Privacy
No accounts. No ad tracking. No cookies watching you around the internet.
The short version
- There is no sign in and no way to make an account. We never ask for your name, your email or your age.
- There are no advertising or tracking cookies, and no third party trackers of any kind.
- Your scores, your streak and your level live in your browser, on your device. Clear your browser data and they are gone, including from us, because we never had them.
What your browser stores
Spell Spell keeps two things in your browser’s local storage. No cookies are involved.
- Your progress. Which days you have played, your scores, your total points and your level.
- A random device id. A string of random characters with no meaning attached. It lets our server tie a round to the device that started it, and lets us stop one device flooding the game with guesses. It is not an account and it is never joined to anything else about you.
What our server stores
- Rounds. When a round started and ended, what was found and the score, tied to that random device id.
- Flags. If you flag a spelling, we keep the spelling, your note if you left one, and that device id, so a person can read it.
That is all of it. None of it identifies you, and we do not sell, share or trade any of it.
Analytics
If analytics are switched on, we use Plausible, which is cookie free, does not track people across sites and keeps no personal data. We look at counts, like how many rounds were played. Nothing we send it is tied to a person.
When analytics are not configured, no analytics script loads at all.
Children
This game is built for children to play. There is nothing to sign up for, nothing to buy, no advertising, no messaging and no way to put your name anywhere. That is deliberate, and it is the design we intend to keep.
Getting in touch
We cannot look up your data, because it is on your device and we have no way to tell which device is yours. If you want your local progress gone, clearing your browser data for this site does it completely.
